 The National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano is a 180.000 hectare area in the south province of Salerno. It is the second biggest national park in Italy. Its boundaries are Piana del Sele (Sele valley) on the north side, the campano-lucano Apennines on the south-east and Tyrrhenian coast on the west. Its wide range of natural beauties and its uncontaminated landscapes made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. |

 In Salerno’s countryside, between the Sele and Calore valleys, there is the Oasi di Persano. The protected environment of this freshwater area has its roots in its marshy soil. At the beginning of XX century the whole Piana del Sele ( Sele Valley) was reclaimed. Then a dam was built and the artificial lake that now is the Oasi’s beating heart was created. |
